This past January, Joey and the Cruisers had the honor of performing at The Bluegrass Ball in Washington, D.C. celebrating the Inauguration of Barack Obama as President of The United States.
The group left Lexington on a chartered bus for DC at Midnight, Monday, January 19th for DC.
The Cruisers arrived at 11am and enjoyed a 3 hour tour of Washington seeing sites such as The Jefferson Memorial, The Air Force Memorial, Watergate Hotel, US Treasury and lots more.
Next was our arrival at The Marriott Wardman Park Hotel for unloading, sound check and performance.
Over 1800 people attended The Bluegrass Ball and it was a fabulous party with dignitaries such as Governor Steve Beshear, (who sang with us on stage) both Kentucky Senators, Representatives, Muhammad Ali and The Temptations. We started shortly after performed till about 1:30am. We were on the road @ 2:30am and arrived back in Lexington @ 2pm. Several pictures of the trip can be seen on our site. Go to 2009 Inauguration.
This year has seen The Cruisers also perform for Derby Eve at The Governors Mansion, The Concrete Ball in downtown Louisville, several weddings, country clubs and more.
